First assignment in focus 'Concept'. Description of the assignment: "Create a temporary accommodation for two people.".

First of all the location. I chose the Menenpoort at Ypres. It is monument honoring soldiers of WW I,  a 'memorial to the missing’. There are about 55 000 names in the  inside of the gate. Names of Commonwealth soldiers who were missing since 15 August 1917. Every night they play 'The Last Post', a song, at the gate. An impressive, meaningful monument, that make us never forget WW I. A monument that intrigues me.

So my accommodation lays at the Menenpoort, where the musician of the 'klaroen' / bugle and his or her partner can stay. Further my concept is based on the flower the poppy. It is a symbol for WW I and can be found in Flanders field. The shape of my accommodation is also based on the work of Richard Serra.
