Loft was a project where we had to create a home in one of our ateliers at school. We were also given some restrictions for the first level and for the differences in height. The profile of the householders was a young couple with two kids. There must be enough space to expose art and one of them worked from home.

My design is based on two volumes. They stand next to the level of the concrete and are surrounded by their stairs. On top of the volumes there are almost none high walls. This gives a very open and grand feeling. This two levels on the volumes are connected by a little bridge. The first level is closed by very fine banisters. In this way the boards play with the look of density of the banisters. 

 

My main materials are a green-blue concrete and Polish pinewood. And so the colour spectrum of my loft excists of green-blue, different tints of blue, white and the yellow-orange-wood colour.I kept the original ceiling, because it is too beautiful to change it and it gives a warm and industrial look.
